The Problem of Addiction: Prevention and Treatment Approaches

This course aims to:

  1. Understand the physiological basis of healthy habits and their relationship to the reward and pleasure centers in the brain.
  2. Understand the chemical disturbances in the brain caused by various types of addictions and the subtle differences between them.
  3. Highlight the relationship between addiction and life failure.
  4. Recognize the destructive negative effects of drugs on individuals, families, and social stability.
  5. Explore various protective and risk factors that may lead individuals towards abusing drugs.
  6. Gain knowledge of the most common types of drugs, their common names, and their various effects.
  7. Familiarize with the foundations and stages of drug addiction treatment to assist those in need.
  8. Gain insight into the role of education in prevention and intervention, and recognize the indirect educational impact on addressing long-term psychological and academic consequences, such as bullying, academic failure, aggressive behaviors, etc.

Note: Participants who meet specific attendance and commitment criteria are awarded a certificate of completion.
